Lieutenant-Colonel Morgan Henry Birch-Reynardson


Morgan Henry Birch-Reynardson was born on 9 December 1895 at Totton, Hampshire, England, the son of Vere Henry Birch-Reynardson and Eva Annabella Jane (nee Crofton).

He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant on 1 October 1914 and posted to the 6th Inniskilling Dragoons, going to France on 12 December 1914.

In 1916 he joined the 2nd North Irish Horse Regiment, possibly as part of the headquarters detachment for the new regiment. The regimental diary includes a number of references to Birch-Reynardson between October and December 1916.

On 31 December 1916 he left the regiment to rejoin the 6th Inniskilling Dragoons. He was promoted to lieutenant on 26 June 1917, and captain on 2 November 1920.

In 1922 he transferred to the Indian Army, reaching the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel by the time of his retirement on 31 December 1945. He died at Jersey in the Channel Islands on 5 October 1984.
