North of Ireland Imperial Yeomanry

Imperial Yeomanry 1

Written on the reverse of this photograph is "Imperial Yeomanry about 1910", however around 1905 as a more likely date. The North of Ireland Imperial Yeomanry were re-formed as the North Irish Horse in 1908. It is likely that this would be the Strabane Troop, possibly photographed during training at the cavalry barracks and the Curragh in County Kildare. The lance flags would be coloured white and green.

Men identified are Houston Graham, extreme left, back row, and Jack Adams, front row, second from left, holding a pipe. The officer is believed to be Lieutenant E.C. Herdman. The picture is by Charleton & Sons, Newbridge, Curragh, Kildare & Glen Imaal.
