Private William Flanagan

 

The background of this North Irish Horseman is not known at present.

William Flanagan enlisted in the North Irish Horse between 12 and 20 February 1914 (No.901 – later Corps of Hussars No.71153). He embarked for France with C Squadron on 20 August 1914, seeing action on the retreat from Mons and advance to the Aisne.

He served with the regiment through much of the war, but later transferred to the Royal Army Medical Corps (No.14944).

On 28 February 1919 Flanagan was demobilised and transferred to Class Z, Army Reserve.
