Private Hubert Gordon

The background of this North Irish Horseman is not known at present.

Hubert Gordon enlisted in the North Irish Horse between 5 and 16 May 1917 (No.2441 – later Corps of Hussars No.71829). He trained at the regiment's Antrim reserve depot before embarking for France in 1917 or 1918, where he was posted to one of the squadrons of the 1st North Irish Horse Regiment.

He later served in the 6th Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers), possibly being posted to that regiment in March-April 1918 when the 1st (NIH) was dismounted and converted to a cyclist regiment.

On 16 March 1919 Gordon was demobilised and transferred to Class Z, Army Reserve. (Another record states that he was discharged on 13 November 1919.)

At some point after the war he was living at 26 Alexander Street West, Belfast.
