Private Joseph Hunter McClintock

 

The only reference to this man's service in the North Irish Horse is in the Presbyterian Church in Ireland's Roll of Honour: 1914-1919, which lists him as a Private, from Killygore, belonging to the Cloughwater Congregation, Ballymena Presbytery.

Joseph Hunter McClintock was born on 26 May 1900 at Killygore, Broughshane, County Antrim, the last of eleven children of farmer William McClintock and his wife Margaret (née Hunter).

Given his age, he would have enlisted in the North Irish Horse in 1917 or 1918, serving the remainder of the war at the regiment's reserve depot at Antrim before being demobilised in 1919.

In October 1923 he emigrated, sailing from Belfast for Quebec and Montreal.
