Private Jack Scott

 

The only evidence of this man's military service discovered to date is contained in the Presbyterian Church in Ireland's Roll of Honour: 1914-1919, which states that he served as a Trooper in the North Irish Horse, lived in Ashville, and was a member of the Antrim First Congregation of the Presbyterian Church.

John (Jack) Scott was born on 21 March 1900 at Ashville (Town Parks), Antrim, County Antrim, the first of nine children of coachman Francis Scott and his wife Agnes (née McCullough). At the time of the 1911 Census he was living at Town Parks with his parents and six siblings.

Given his age, he probably enlisted in the North Irish Horse in 1917 or 1918, seeing out the war at the regimental reserve depot at Antrim before being demobilised in 1919.
