Location of the 2nd Regiment North Irish Horse
This map tracks the movements of the 2nd Regiment from its formation at the end of June 1916 to its disbandment in August 1917. The red lines indicate the location of the front-line at the time, including the major battles and advances. Towns in which the Regiment was based are shown in red. Other important towns and places mentioned in the Regiment diary are also shown.
Having left the Somme, the Regiment spent much of the period near the Ypres salient, mainly based in Boeschepe. In August it moved to Harfleur for infantry training prior to joining the 9th Royal Irish Fusiliers.
