OTHER INFORMATION
A letter from a pal in the 61st Company, published in the Weekly Irish Times on 28 July 1900, described the circumstances of Flude's injury:
[At] 23 mile camp ... one of the Dubliners met with an accident. It appears some of the officers of the 17th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry were out shooting, and returning late in the evening saw what they took for an animal drinking at a river. One of the party fired, and hearing screams they immediately ran forward and discovered one of their own men had been shot in the leg, which he has since lost.
